A bridge between Japan and Hong Kong,
to the world for international cultural exchange
 
Japan Hong Kong Musicians Alliance(JHMA) was established in 2012 in Hong Kong by extensive supports not only from classical music field but also from the people in various cultural fields from Japan, Hong Kong and beyond. Philosophy in founding JHMA is to promote the cultural exchange and mutual understanding of young generation beyond the boundary of nations, through the music events and educational activities in Asian regions.
 
JHMA recommended the prize winners of the "1st Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition'" held in July, 2012 to the final stage of the "Osaka International Music Competition", one of the largest scale music competition in Japan. Such experience in a world-class music competition must be a valuable one for participants. In addition, the prize winners also performed in the Zushi-city (Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan) Dragon Concert, promoting a chance in a life-time experience of cultural exchange with Japanese musicians and audience. JHMA believe that our cultural exchange activities through various events/concerts of this competition shall help contribute to connect Asian regions together, allowing young Asian youth to directly experience and rediscover Japanese culture.
Japan has a strong influence to Asian countries in the field of classical music, in terms of its experience and knowledge. Therefore, the biggest challenge of this competition is to foster the understanding and support to classical music in Hong Kong region, which has been, and will be, the essential part of the development of Asia.
 
At the same time, JHMA considers it is essential to provide the entrance gate and the stage of music education to those over-20-thousands Japanese residents in Hong Kong, with Japanese and world-class standard. JHMA has been in intensive discussion in order to allow prize winners of the competition to participate in other world-class competitions, or study in music college around the world. Such cooperation encouraged by JHMA as a medium, along with the basis of Japanese expertise, shall promote world-wide cultural exchange via music. Then, it will be the duty of JHMA to expand the field of activities from Hong Kong to other Asian regions in order to enable young generation to get involved in the activities of classical music.
 
This website was established to offer various information and outcome of our cultural activities via classical music, to wider audience. JHMA will try to continuously notify our activities to encourage vigorous involvement and high-level musical experience by general public.
