The 5th Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition Award Ceremony and Prize Winners Concert

The 5th Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition Award Ceremony and Prize Winners Concert was held on July 31st. During the award ceremony, the consulate general of Japan in Hong Kong gave words of encouragement for those young musicians. Special prizes, including the prize for the winners to participate in the Osaka International Music Competition, and Tokyo College of Music Prize, and other prizes were given to talented young musicians. Selected prize winners gave performance to the audience, with passionate performance.

The 5th Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition
Piano/Violin/Flute Sections

The 5th Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition was held on July 20th, 30th, 31st, 2016. Again, more than 300 young musicians participated not only from Hong Kong and Japan, but also from China, Taiwan, and for the first time from Mongolia. The competition level has developed considerably higher, while the bottom line of the participants has also improved.  The support for wider possibility for those young musicians is necessary, and JHMA would like to do so for the future of the young musicians in Asia.

The 4th Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition was held on July 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th, 2015.  300 young musicians participated not only from Hong Kong and Japan, but also from China, Taiwan, Singapore and other Asian countries. The competition level was considerably high, which has been developing each time this competition was held.  We are glad to see this competition is establishing a standard in music competition in Asia.

The 3rd Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition Award Ceremony and Prize Winners Concert

The 3rd Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition Award Ceremony and Prize Winners Concert was held at The Hongkong Japanese Club in Causeway Bay. During the award ceremony, the consulate general of Japan in Hong Kong gave words of encouragement for those young musicians. Also, Mr. Kaoru Kondo, the chief jury of the 3rd Competition, spoke about the strong message to the prize winners that “music is a gift from musicians to the audience”. Special prizes, including the prize for the winners to participate in the Osaka International Music Competition, and the prize for visiting Japan for the Prize Winners concert in Japan. Selected prize winners gave performance to the audience, with passionate performance.

The 3rd Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition was held on July 5th, 6th, 27th, and 28th, 2014. The number of contestants were more than 300 this year, collecting not only from Hong Kong and Japan, but also from China, Singapore, Malaysia, etc.. The competition continues to become more open to all Asian regions, while it grows to establish more international presence with the voices of Asia.

Japan-Hong Kong International Cultural Exchange Event
Zushi-city Prize Winners Concert "Dragon Concert"

Prize winners of the Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition were invited to perform in "Dragon Concert" held in Zushi-city, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. This concert event was held not only as the actual concert event for the prize winners to perform on a stage, it is for the cultural exchange between Hong Kong and Japan. Japanese audience had a rare chance to listen to the performance of young Hong Kong musicians, and impressed by their enthusiastic performance. Mr. Peter Komlos.

The 2nd Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition was held on July 20, 21, 28th, 2013. The number of contestants increased from last year's 162 to 306 this year, collecting not only from Hong Kong and Japan, but also from China, Singapore, and the United States. The competition continues to become more open to all Asian regions, while it grows to establish more international presence with the voices of Asia.

Zushi-city Prize Winners Concert "Dragon Concert"

Prize winners of the 1st Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition were invited to perform in "Dragon Concert" held in Zushi-city, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. This concert event was held in order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic ties between China and Japan. Japanese audience had a rare chance to listen to the performance of young Hong Kong musicians, and impressed by their enthusiastic performance. It was a great success as an international cultural exchange event.

Award Ceremony/Prize Winners Concert in Hong Kong

Award Ceremony and concert of prize winners of the 1st Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition was held at the Hong Kong Japanese Club in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island. Prize winners, who will lead the future of Hong Kong and Japan, received kind encouragement words from the consul-general of the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong. First prize winners of the competition of each section/class performed in front of the guests, while Japanese jury members of the competition also gave spectacular performance.

第5回日本香港国際音楽コンクールは、初めてモンゴル共和国からの参加者を迎えるなど、アジア各国からこれまで以上の参加者を集め開催されました。すでに非常に参加者のレベルが高くなっている中で、今年はさらに演奏技術や音楽性の向上が見られました。参加者のレベルの底上げが様々な国籍や背景を持つ若者の参加とともに実現しており、より幅広い活躍の場が開けていくことを後押ししていくことが重要になってきました。

本年もコンクール授賞式ならびに受賞者記念コンサートが開催され、授賞式では主賓の在香港日本国総領事よりアジアの未来へ向け飛躍する受賞者とコンクール参加者にお言葉をいただきました。また協賛各団体の皆様より大阪国際音楽コンクール本選出場の機会を提供する大阪賞や、東京音楽大学特別賞などが参加者に授与されました。記念コンサートでは、厳しい接戦となった今回のコンクール本選を勝ち抜いた各部門受賞者の演奏が披露され、聴衆を魅了しました。

第4回日本香港国際音楽コンクールは、アジア各国からこれまで以上の参加者を集め開催されました。コンクールを重ねるごとに参加者のレベルが向上するとともに、国籍の多様化と年齢層の幅広さが増しています。また繰り返し参加している若い皆さんの成長が著しく、コンクールを通じてさらに飛躍することを期待しています。

第３回日本香港国際音楽コンクールは、香港のみならず日本、中国、マレーシアなどアジア各国から総勢300名を超す参加者を集め開催されました。第１回、第２回のコンクールを経て参加者のレベルもさらに高まり、コンクールを通じて成長する若者たちの姿を見ることができました。

第２回 逗子演奏会「ドラゴン・コンサート」

日本香港国際文化交流事業である「ドラゴン・コンサート」も第２回を迎え、神奈川県逗子市においてコンクール入賞者を招待し開催されました。またバルトーク弦楽四重奏団創設者、バイオリニストのペーター・コムローシュ氏を迎え、円熟の演奏を披露しました。

逗子演奏会「ドラゴン・コンサート」

神奈川県逗子市でおこなわれた日中国交正常化40周年記念事業「ドラゴン・コンサート」に、コンクール入賞者が招待されました。普段は耳にする機会のない香港の若者の熱演に、日本の聴衆も大きな感銘を受け、国際交流事業としても大きな成功となりました。

The 3rd Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition
The 3rd Violin Master Class was held

On December 28th, The 2nd Violin Mater Class was held by welcoming the chief jury of The 3rd Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition, the concert master of the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Kaoru Kondo.
Among those who participated in The 3rd Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition, young musicians participated in this master class. They had a great opportunity to experience and learn directly from Mr. Kondo, with his technique and musicality as a master violinist. Japan Hong Kong Musicians Alliance hopes this experience to be a valuable and memorable one for those who participated.

The 2nd Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition
Violin Master Class, Summer 2013

Prior to the 2nd Japan Hong Kong International Music Competition in July, Vioin Master Class, Summer 2013 was held by inviting Mr. Kaoru Kondo, the chief jury of the 2nd Competition, and the jury of the Violin Section. The one-to-one lesson with the participant of the class was intensive to draw out the eagerness of the participant for fruitful results.

2012 the Emperor's Birthday Celebration Reception hosted by Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong


The prize winners of the 1st Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition had an opportunity to perform at the 2012 Emperor's Birthday Celebration Reception hosted by Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong. (Island Shangri-La Hotel, Hong Kong) National anthems of the Republic of China and Japan, masterpieces of classical music, and some Japanese songs were performed in front of a large number of the guests.
Alliance members express deep gratitude for allowing us to participate in the event, and we all wish for the health and every happiness of Their Majesties of Japan.

The 1st Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition
Violin Master Class

Prize winners of the 1st Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition were invited to the open Master Class taught by one of the jury members of the competition, Mr. Kaoru Kondo. (the Concertmaster of The Kyushu Symphony Orchestra) Mr. Kondo gave instruction for those participants who played the piece from the competition. Participated young musicians received intensive lessons full of musical ideas and messages from Mr. Kondo. Japan Hong Kong Musicians Alliance will continue promoting this "Master Class" lesson as a core music project, by inviting world-wide leading musicians to Hong Kong.
